John Kasser

John has had an extensive and illustrious career in education, athletics, and fundraising. After college, he taught US History and coached basketball at the high school level for ten years. He later became the Vice President of a large automobile dealer chain. In addition, he served four major universities as the Athletic Director over a span of 20 years – the University of Houston during the Phi Slamma Jamma years, Long Beach State University, University of Califoronia Santa Barbara and University of California Berkeley, where he raised $100 million in seven years to complete the reconstruction of the Haas Pavilion. He has also served as a Special Consultant for Athletics for all 23 of the California State Universities, and has helped to place ten of his Associate Directors in Athletic Director Positions.

John has been part of many different NCAA committees, and later became the Vice President for Fox Sports Net and the General Manager of Pacific -10 Conference Properties. During his tenure as General Manager he created the Men’s Pac-10 Basketball Tournament at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
