Erin Vejar, CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP

POOCH Manager

Erin is responsible for the POOCH (Prisoners Overcoming Obstacles and Creating Hope) program at Donovan State Prison. There, she teaches prisoners to train service dogs that will placed with one of TLCAD’s clients. She is honored to be able to touch so many lives with the tools of positive reinforcement training.
Erin has been training dogs professionally since 2006. She has a degree in Communication from UCSD and is a CPDT-KA and KPA-CTP. She also belongs to the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). Her passion began in working with shelter and rescue dogs and training her yellow lab / golden retriever mix, Akiyla. Over the years, she has worked with hundreds of dogs and families on a wide range of training needs, from group classes to complex behavior training and behavior consulting. She has seen it all and is thrilled to be able to use these skills to help prepare service dogs for their work with their future clients.
