July 2006 - June 2007

From the Board President

Each year TLCAD’s Board of Directors re-evaluates our current programs and goals. This year we completed a new 3 to 5 year strategic plan which leads us in new and exciting directions, new ways of fundraising and new techniques for training. We have decided to drop the Handler-Owned Teams (HOT) program and turn our sights toward training dogs for children with autism.

Our Dogs 2006-2007

At this time Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs (TLCAD) has 13 dogs in training. As you read the stories below, please remember that we are an all-volunteer organization, do not charge our clients for their dogs and none of this could happen without our generous donors.

Certified This Year

* Sage, a loving yellow Labrador retriever, works full time for his owner, Denny Russell, at Petco Park retrieving, delivering items, opening doors and greeting the public. He is a Padre!

* Tahoe, a very calm black Labrador retriever works with his owner, Ronnie Feehan, as a Facility Dog at the Riley School where she is a nurse. Tahoe is a major calming factor, as well as a learning assistant, and acts as a reward to the students for good behavior.
